IF YOU ARE IN DANGER

• DO NOT PANIC! PANIC IS YOUR WORST ENEMY.
• Everybody on board must wear the life jackets.
• If somebody falls into the sea throw immediately the life saver and hold on to the end of the rope that is attached pulling him or
her towards the boat. Be careful of the wind direction!
• In case of fire use the fire extinguisher.
• If there is an accident and the boat overturns try to stay on top of it.The Olympic boats are unsinkable.
• If the engine breaks down throw the anchor or floating anchor into the water. Of course you can use the back up engine.
• If there is a sound coming from the Yamaha instrument , turn off the engine and contact us.
• In the daylight use the smokescreen and at nightime the flamethrower. All the necessary equipment is always on board.
• Contact us immediately on one of the following phone numbers +30.6974829474.
• If your mobile phone doesn’t have a signal dial European emergency number 112 and your call will be connected to the coast guard 108.
• We have always boats in the water so someone will be close to you in reasonable time

The boats have gps tracker so we can find you easy if you doesn’t were are you.
All the necessary equipment is always on board and before boarding we check it, together!!

How to use a float anchor

The use of the floating anchor

In cases when our boat is still due to any kind of breakdown it turns with its starboard or port towards the weather and it is carried away faster from the sea since its biggest surface is exposed to the blowing wind and waves.

The only thing that we have got in our hands to deal with this situation is the floating anchor with which we achieve two basic things:

• To hold the bow of the boat towards the weather, a fact which will deter the undesirable constant transverse inclination and the unobstructed entry of water on the deck when the waves break on the tubes, especially in bad weather.
• To prevent the boat from being carried away without any resistance by the waves. The floating anchor works as a “brake” and minimizes the movement of the boat keeping us close to our mark while in parallel it protects us from the extremely dangerous approach to the rocks when we are close to a shore.

It’s function
It is clear therefore, that the first thing we should do when we sail adrift is to use the floating anchor. In order not to waste any time, which can sometimes be lifesaving, we should have a long and thick rope permanently adjusted to the floating anchor by being tied up to its conveyor belts. Therefore, it is immediately thrown to the sea and the free edge of the rope is tied at a bow bollard.

As soon as the rope is stretched, the floating anchor begins to function restricting the movement of the boat to the minimum. The cone shape of the floating anchor allows it to fill in quickly with water which, due to the gradual restriction of its incision, delays its flow in it. The «enclosed» bulk of water, finding a way out from the smallest opening of the floating anchor, keeps it permanently open and consequently in constant function. The bigger the floating anchor, the more the bulk of water enclosed in it having as a result a better holding of the boat.

In fishing
Apart from the above mentioned cases of sailing adrift, the floating anchor can constitute a useful tool for fishing. Our fishermen friends are aware that in some techniques, the most common one being bottom fishing for red snappers, it is sometimes preferable to fish when the boat is slowly carried away by the weather in order to fish in larger areas of the sea bed or to locate the places where fish are.

Engine problem

The engines must always work inside the water because outboard motors can efficiently use water for cooling.
The engines always have the correctly servise and on time from authorized yamaha workshop. Before you deliver the boat the staff of chaniaboatsrental check it. Also the spare engine isn’t only to make you feel safe but return you and your company back to the port

If the engine does not start

1. See if the quick stop isn’t connected (red spiral cord)
2. Check the gearbox it has to be on Neutral.
3. See if the gas tank needs replacement.
4. See if the fuel pump has air in it by pumping it.
5. See if the battery is worn out. Check it through the Yamaha instruments.
6. If nothing of the above isn’t happening, Please contact us immediately!

The engine is vibrating excessively or doesn’t have enough power(thrust)

Important!!! Turn off the engine first!!!

1. See if something is caught in the propeller (ropes,nets,seaweed)
2. See if the propeller is damaged ( by hitting rock)
3. See if the reservoire doesn’t have air in it.
4. See if the engine is not properly in the water.
5. In any case shut the engine off and then check the above.

The boat takes a steep gradient when it start’s moving

1. The engine is not properly in the water. Push the trim button so the engines propeller is correctly in the water and the boat straightens out with the sea.
2. The boats weight isn’t correct. Try to shift evenly the weight of all that’s on board so the boat won’t tilt left or right. Keep always more people in the front of the boat instead of the back because most of the weight is on the rear of the boat engine , battery ex.

How to use an Anchor

Επιλογή Σημείου: Επιλέξτε περιοχή προστατευμένη από άνεμο, ρεύμα και κίνηση σκαφών, με αρκετό χώρο περιστροφής.
Choose an area that offers maximum shelter from wind, current and boat traffic, with enough swinging room.
Έλεγχος Βάθους & Βυθού: Υπολογίστε βάθος και τύπο βυθού και αφήστε μήκος σχοινιού 3–5 φορές το βάθος.
Determine depth and bottom conditions and release rope length 3–5 times the depth.
Συνεννόηση με Σκάφη: Ρωτήστε γειτονικά σκάφη τι μήκος σχοινιού έχουν αφήσει ώστε να αποφύγετε σύγκρουση.
If other boats are nearby, ask what scope they have out to avoid collision.
Ίδια Μέθοδος Αγκυροβολίας: Αγκυροβολήστε όπως τα γύρω σκάφη. Ποτέ μόνο από πρύμνη.
Anchor using the same method as nearby boats. Never anchor from the stern alone.
Προετοιμασία Άγκυρας: Ελέγξτε συνδέσμους και ασφαλίστε την άγκυρα στο κοτσανέλο με το σχοινί.
Check connections and secure the anchor to the bow cleat with the rope.
Άπλωμα Σχοινιού: Απλώστε το σχοινί στο κατάστρωμα ώστε να πέσει ομαλά χωρίς μπερδέματα.
Lay the rope on deck to ensure smooth deployment without tangling.
Ρίψη Άγκυρας: Ρίξτε κόντρα σε άνεμο ή ρεύμα αφήνοντας σχοινί με αργή όπισθεν.
Drop the anchor upwind or up-current while reversing slowly.
Στερέωση: Κάντε ήπια όπισθεν για να «πιάσει» η άγκυρα. Προσοχή στην προπέλα.
Reverse gently to set the anchor. Avoid getting the rope in the propeller.
Έλεγχος Πιασίματος: Κρατήστε το σχοινί για να νιώσετε αν σέρνεται ή έχει σταθεροποιηθεί.
Hold the rope to feel whether the anchor is dragging or set.
Σημεία Αναφοράς: Χρησιμοποιήστε σταθερά σημεία στη στεριά για έλεγχο θέσης.
Use fixed land reference points to monitor position.
Έλεγχος Αγκυροβολίου: Ελέγχετε περιοδικά ότι δεν παρασύρεστε.
Check regularly to ensure you are not drifting.
Ανέλκυση Άγκυρας: Τραβήξτε σχοινί ή κινηθείτε μπροστά μέχρι να έρθει κάθετα στην πλώρη.
Retrieve the anchor by pulling the rope or moving forward slowly.
Ξεμπλοκάρισμα: Δέστε στο κοτσανέλο ώστε το βάρος του σκάφους να βοηθήσει.
Cleat the line so the boat’s weight helps free the anchor.
Ανάσυρση: Ανεβάστε την άγκυρα μέχρι την επιφάνεια.
Raise the anchor to the waterline.
Καθαρισμός & Αποθήκευση: Καθαρίστε και αφήστε το σχοινί να στεγνώσει πριν αποθηκευτεί.
Clean and allow the rope to dry before storage.

Obligations of Captain and Passenger

The captain must be always be cautious for swimmers and snorkelers. ATTENTION! A yellow – orance sign in the water with a yellow flag on top of it with the letters Y,D on it shows that there is a snorkeler up ahead. Go around by him with very low speed and hold a distance of 150 meters.
THE USE OF ALCOHOL AND DRUGS ARE FORBIDDEN!!
Do not go close to the water of a passing boat or ship
Never drive behind another boat.
Do not let the passengers moving while sailing or sit on the gunwale.
Pass the quick –stop on your wrist or leg before start your engine.
“Play” with the trim to find the position of the boat (having the best speed with the lowest consumption.
If you here an unusual sound coming from the engine or from the beeper of theYamaha instrument TURN OFF the engine and contact us.
In night time always open your lights.
If you like to drive along the coastline make sure nobody is swimming and don’t go more than 5 miles per hour also don’t approach the beach no further than 300 meters.
If you want to swim or go out on the beach. Throw the anchor and tie the boat in a depth of at least 3 meters.
Attention! Diving from the boat can cause an accident!
Attention!! Never start engine when boarding from stair.
Smoking is forbidden to everybody while changing the gas tank.
